About Amanda
Although I grew up in Raleigh, I recently moved back to town to be close to my family after living in Asheville for the past 12 years. This is my 13th year as a classroom teacher. I'm a graduate of UNCG, and have my graduate degree from WCU. I am honored to have received alumni achievement awards from both universities! In 2010, I received The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching, sometimes called The Oscars of Teaching. I even got to travel to Washington DC and meet the President. I was also recognized in in 2013 as the Western NC Elementary Science Teacher of the Year.
I am a retired rugby player and a former triathlete. I still enjoy swimming, reading, singing, and playing all sorts of games. I am the proud mama of two rescue dogs: a beagle, Lucy, and a boxer/mastiff, Boomer and I'm a huge fan of the Carolina Panthers.
